People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has promised to reopen the regional border with Niger Republic and restore peace to the northeast if elected the nation’s president. 

Atiku made the promise yesterday in Damaturu, Yobe State capital during the party’s presidential campaign rally. 

 He told the crowd of supporters and party members he was determined to ensure peace return to the area troubled by over a decade of Boko Haram violence. 

“People of Yobe, do you want peace to return to this state?” he asked.

“We will restore peace to the state and the northeast. We will open the border for people to do their businesses. We will ensure that your children get work as soon as they finish their schooling,” he promised.

He pledged to focus on employment for youths and provision of capital for young men and women to start business. 

“If you want a change, vote for PDP.

We promise to give our young men and women capital to start their business,” he declared. 

He said the crowd of people at the rally indicated the presence of his party in the state. “Today, I know there is PDP in Yobr,” he said. 

Atiku was accompanied by the party’s presidential campaign council led by the PDP national Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, forner minister of police affairs, Alhaji Adamu Waziri, among others.
