An early morning road accident involving an 18 seater Toyota Hiace Bus with 22 passengers on board has claimed the lives of no fewer than seven people in Niger state.

The accident which occurred at Gwachipe bridge, at kwakuti village along the ever busy Minna-Suleja highway at about 6:00am on Friday, left 15 other passengers critically injured.

The Katsina bound commercial Bus from Lagos with registration number, MUS 216 YA had a busted tyre, resulting to the vehicle summersaulting several times due to over speeding.

An official of the Road Safety Corp who did not want his name in print as he was not competent to comment on the crash, however told our correspondent that seven dead bodies, comprising two females and five males were evacuated from the scene of the crash and have been deposited at the Suleja general hospital in the state.

He also disclosed that all the injured passengers, 15 of them have been taking to Lambatta general hospital in Gawu Babangida local government area of the state.

The Minna-Suleja highway which is currently being dualize has claimed many lives in the last one year with about 50 people have so far died from accidents on the road.

Only in November last year, a former commissioner for information and strategies in the state, Mallam Danladi Ndayebo last his life alongside his friend when the vehicle they were traveling in had a Head-on-collusion with another vehicle.
