From my mail box
By Orji Kalu (Kalu Leadership Series)
Saturday, April 12, 2008

I am glad to fulfil the promise of publishing a compilation of some mails which had been sent to my email box. However the mails were published as it was sent by the keen followers and readers of my column. Consequently few paragraphs were selected from some of these mails that were detailed, so as to accommodate so many of the mails.

Furthermore my attention was equally drawn to some of these mails which hinged on thousand unemployed youths who needed jobs and economic empowerment. Therefore I have decided to teach them how to fish, instead of giving them fishes; thus the introduction of a new Series, 'My Economic Empowerment Series' which would run concurrently with My Leadership Series. Read on and do not fail to criticise me where the need be, just as some of the people whose mails you would read below.

I have equally deemed it necessary to commend and encourage those who find time to reply my mails by the introduction of Star Letter, which would be published alongside other selected letters at the end of each month with the winner, going home with the prize sum of N20,OOO only.

Therefore I urge all the readers who have the interest to reply via my mail box, to be very precise and coherent. However Nigerians resident abroad who are always fond of replying my mails should count themselves out of the OUK Column Star Letter competition. I will be the only judge of the best letter and the criteria for judgement would be the basic content and quality of the mail and not the quantity of grammars or vocabularies used in the letter.

I read your article with delight and surprise too. I am not a fan of OBJ and his misrule but am a citizen of Abia. I used to admire your simplicity and carriage but after your misrule by eight years I lost all that. Its like the only good thing you did in your rule is that you built a good house for yourself and also you were able to speak up against obasanjo. This is all you say about your rule and I forgot, you helped enyimba pick up the champions cup. What a cv for a leader.

ON YOUR ARTICLE
Iwenze2k @ahoo.com
Many congratulations Your Excellency and Happy New Year! It was interesting reading your article. First because of the personality of the writer (Orji Uzor Kalu). Second, the personality (Obasanjo) discussed. However as your fan I was disturbed that you have the time to address a most bestial character. But on another thought, it was good to remind the gullible audience in the theatre of political shenanigans which Obasanjo was the main character. Well done!
I know what you have gone through in your resolute challenge to Obasanjo's tyranny. But you are a child of God and therefore have no choice. Remember; resistance to tyranny is obedience to God. Personally, as a students'union president currently challenging the evils of a despotic VC, I can now appreciate your battles, but many Nigerians won't. Besides, we all heard from the lunatic called OBJ when we summoned the courage to challenge his despotic acts against his deputy (A TIKU). Your Excellency, the just shall be vindicated. I heard he has been sleeping with his daughter in law; Alu! Alu!! Alu!!! The just shall be vindicated. BE STRONG SIR! NELSON NWIGWE UDE-UMANT A

THE MEANING OF YOUR NAME...LlFE, THE WAY

Good day Sir,
The good thing about life for people like us is that we are represented by a person like you who is the voice of the voiceless, the mouthpiece of the oppressed and a good representation of the progressive and our democracy. May God bless you beyond your imagination. As a member, (free readers association) I was opportune to read the Saturday 19:01 :08 edition of the SUN, in your leadership series, captioned 'Niger Delta and Place of Justice' and at the end I saw truth, courage, boldness, unique and a sincere personality who speak/write with love for his people. Please permit me to say this through writing, your name is a representation of what you really are today, where Orji stands for KOLA and in our culture it represents life when brought and Uzor stands for the WAY which those who have no future find encouraging to move ahead. Thanks,
UCHEGBU EMEKA

You are wonderful for what you did in the Sun Newspaper. Thanks ALIYU BISHIR.
RESPONSE LETTER Ebinox702001 ahoo.com Dear Sir, Your write up on Saturday sun of February 16th 2008 on chief Obasanjo is nothing but a mockery on our nascent democracy. Anybody that goes through the article will know that you have a personal score to settle with obasanjo. Our so called leaders should try and live above board, and forget personal animosity towards each other.
Thanks. MAYOWA ATOKI

May God bless you on your thought provoking article on the Zaki-Biam massacre. My parents who have been residing in Zaki-Biam since 1979 lost all their means of livelihood when the army struck. I'm a native of Agulu in Anambra State.

Dear Dr Kalu,
Your write up of the above caption in the sun news paper dated 16th Feb.2008, is a very courageous and truthful one. It is a clear indication that the World is full of evil and men of conscience must confront evil at all times, no matter the consequences. It sup rises the entire World that Baba, after committing genocide in Zaki Biam and Odi is still a free man till date. The crisis situation in Mid East today is caused by injustice and failure of the concerned authorities UN/America to stand by the truth, to tell Israel, to leave Palestinians alone. By right Baba supposed to be facing trials the same way former Liberian leader is facing justice now, unfortunately, nothing has been done. If EFCC fails to arrest and prosecute Baba, let them discharge all the Governors so far assigned, because they were only making mockery of themselves before the entire World. It hurts all reasonable minds that Baba is now enjoying temporary peace in Ottah when he suppose to be reaping what he sow, injustice, wickedness, brutal murder etc. Let us watch and see, wether the wicked will go unpunished, time will tell.GbengaiBaba issue is a very good example. More grease to your elbow, more strength to fight on, there are many challenges ahead, but victory is assured at last. Your Man.

BRO.KALU,
I know you are well and happy where ever you are. It is cleal you never abused or offended the old farmer at OT A as he always told us while in power. We all know you tried to criticise positively, then he will get annoyed, and will stop what will come to millions in Abia People because you 'insulted' him, He told us at Aba during the last campaigns. This was enough for any good Abia man to take his vote out of POP. They rigged the elections, and you got the most important, the Governorship. Bros. You are a man. Keep Fighting, Do not quit, you are always a Winner. More Grease To Your Elbow.
THANK YOU. REGARDS.
