There is no doubting the fact that the type of food eaten
could make or mar your mood. This was emphasized last week. Well, foods are not
only mood spoiler, they in fact, most of the times lift up the countenance.
Apetit
is doing another story this week on foods that have been scientifically proven
to enhance good mood.
This would be of great help to all, particularly
our mothers as we celebrate Mothering Day this Sunday. Who else needs to be in
great mood like mothers? Always caring, never complaining. Ever bothered with
others’ needs with, sometimes no one bothering about her very pertinent
needs. Ever giving and sometimes never receiving. She surely needs these great
happy foods to keep keeping up her spirit!
The search for such happy foods,
as no one minds to ceaselessly be in a balm mood, led to the discovery of Joy
Bauer’s new book, Food Cures.
According to Joy, a registered dietician
and founder of Joy Bauer Nutrition (an organization committed to helping people
to lose weight and deal with varied nutrition-based health issues), eating for
a better mood boils down to: • Controlling your blood sugars by eating
every four to five hours throughout the day • Eating a diet rich in soluble
fibre • Incorporating foods rich in omega 3 fatty acids, folic acid,
vitamin B12 and Vitamin D - four nutrients that researchers have found to be mood
lifting. In case you are lost on what is which and how to identify the foods
that contain these nutrients, the following are Joy’s top ten happy foods.
The nutrients in each food are itemized beside it. Bon apetit!
