Emotions ran high in the Next Movie Star house during the
week as three of the contestants had to pack their bags and
baggages and bid their housemates goodbye after they were
evicted.
It was the first eviction of the show that saw Ghanian Johannes
Maier, Olayinka Abimbola and Kayode Oredugba leaving the house
on Tuesday. They were, however, hosted to a party last night
at The Place in GRA, lkeja, Lagos.
But then on Monday, the entertainment press had the opportunity
to interact with the 16 Housemates right there in the House
located in Agege, a suburb of Lagos.
Attracting entertainment reporters from both the print and
electronic media, the press parley had included a facility
tour of the house and interaction with the Housemates. According
to the producers, it was conceived as one of the contents
of the movie show.
Ghanaian Osei Tutu, who told Blockbuster
that she was meeting with a large number of pressmen for the
first time in her life, described the experience as wonderful.
"This is the first time I am meeting with a large number
of pressmen. For me, it is a wonderful experience," she
said.
The Next Movie Star 2007 parades nine Nigerians and seven
Ghanaians including Ameh Lucy, Osinuga Olufemi, Diana Oribioye,
Enoch Hammond, Lydia Forson, Kayode Oredugba, Martha Ankomah
and Johannes Maier. Others are Olayinka Abimbola, Emmanuel
Mettle, Adesewa Ogunleyimi, Uti Nwachukwu, Monica Osei Tutu,
Adekunle Johnny, Lillian Lartai and Adebello Ayorinde.
As the first Nigerian reality show to have foreigners as participants,
Next Movie Star has established itself as one of the most
watched programmes on TV, this much is attested to by viewers.
In 2005 and 2006, it aired on 23 TV stations in the country
and on DStv’s Africa Magic.
Its concessionary verdict of being adjudged the best by TV
viewers is predicated on its unique, interesting and exciting
content that make them glued to their TV sets during the show.
Its superior content, quality production, balance, depth and
incisiveness are substantial in building a strong followership
among various socio-cultural strata, cutting across all family
backgrounds.
Powered by Digital Interactive Media, a specialist one stop
interactive media and content management shop, catering for
interactive advertising, TV and radio content management needs
of various organizations, the show has attracted sponsors,
partners and advertisers like Haier Thermocool, PZ Cussons
(Ghana) and Hyra Motors (makers of Geely). Others include
Guinness, Mikano, Teledom, Alan Water, Reckitt Benckiser and
Erykah (professional make-up artist).
According to Sola Fajobi, CEO and Executive Producer, the
post evaluation analysis of the Next Movie Star indicates
that the major sponsors derive over 400 per cent value from
their investment.
Dancer and Choreographer, Kingsley Ogboso won the maiden edition
of Next Movie Star while multi-talented Porttia Yamahan emerged
the winner in 2006.
In line with the objective of the reality show, the winners
and all other housemates have shot a number of movies and
soaps including Calabar Girl, The Waiter, D8 and DanceHood
all billed to hit the screen soon.
Says Fajobi: "This year’s edition is revolutionary
both in content and quality of production, as we have set
out to discover and nurture talents for the movie industry.
We are also providing measurable excitement to the viewers
so much that they won’t want to miss a second of the
show. Apart from these, we provide very flexible experiential
marketing opportunities to sponsoring brands as best as we
can so that there can be a connection between such brands
and the target audience."
Running for a month with the theme "Express Your Attitude",
the Next Movie Star airs on NTA and AIT at 10pm and 10.30pm
respectively.
