The production company of Amstel Malta Box Office (AMBO),
Nigerian Breweries Plc, which called for scripts from wannabe
writers a few weeks ago, has gotten more than enough as they
have been bombarded with scripts from different parts of the
country.
According Mrs Ngozi Nkwoji, Brand Manager, Amstel, over 400
quality scripts have been received and are going through the
eagles eyes of seasoned professionals who would pick only
one.
She stated further that the winner of the AMBO script writing
competition would emerge next Wednesday. “The best script
writer will smile home with a brand new Laptop and N200, 000
cash while the first and second runner up would also go home
with exciting consolation prizes,” Nkwoji said.
The competition tagged “AmstelMaltaBoxOffice Write 4
Fame Scriptwriting Competition” is targeted at talents
between the ages of 16 and 35 to produce a synopsis for the
Amstel Malta Box Office (AMBO) movie expected to be launched
later in the year starring the current winner Bhaira McWizu.
It is the first time Amstel Malta will be throwing open the
script for the AMBO movie. AMBO, the reality television show
produced by Amstel Malta to discover movie talents is in its
4th season this year and has produced two successful movies
so far.
AMBO 1 won by Azizat Sadiq, produced Sitanda while Whitewaters,
the second AMBO movie features Okechukwu Ukeje winner of AMBO
2.
Amstel Malta, the low sugar malt drink with exceptional attributes
began this partnership with Nollywood in 2005 with an objective
to produce talents that will drive the growth of the industry.
A total of ten actors are selected for the show from a pool
of contestants. Apart from running for three weeks, AMBO is
audience participatory as viewers are usually involved in
the eviction voting process.
Meanwhile, this year’s edition of the Star lager sponsored
music talent hunt show, Star Quest is expected to generate
a lot of excitement going by the number of entries received
so far.
According to Sampson Oloche, Senior Brand Manager, Star, over
9000 entries have been received so far and www.star-nigeria.com
the website, is seriously under pressure, getting a hit every
other second.
Entry for the competition was announced penultimate week and
is closing on Monday. This renewed interest in the competition,
which has so far produced three music groups, has been attributed
to the consistency of Star and its music platform over the
years.
Apart from Star Quest, the brand is easily remembered for
Star Trek, the annual music concert tour which takes several
Nigerian music stars through ten cities. The show has run
for several years and has become a rallying point to most
music stars who look forward to it every year.
There is also Star Mega Jam, the annual international music
concert, which for eight consistent years has featured top
artistes like Shaggy Bombastic, Usher Raymond, Awilo Longomba,
Kofi Olomide, 50 Cent, Jah Rule, Kevin Little, Akon, L.L Cool
J and last year, the pair of Kanye West and T. Pain.
