AMBO script winner emerges March 19
• As Star Quest attracts over 9000 entries

The production company of Amstel Malta Box Office (AMBO), Nigerian Breweries Plc, which called for scripts from wannabe writers a few weeks ago, has gotten more than enough as they have been bombarded with scripts from different parts of the country.

According Mrs Ngozi Nkwoji, Brand Manager, Amstel, over 400 quality scripts have been received and are going through the eagles eyes of seasoned professionals who would pick only one.
She stated further that the winner of the AMBO script writing competition would emerge next Wednesday. “The best script writer will smile home with a brand new Laptop and N200, 000 cash while the first and second runner up would also go home with exciting consolation prizes,” Nkwoji said.

The competition tagged “AmstelMaltaBoxOffice Write 4 Fame Scriptwriting Competition” is targeted at talents between the ages of 16 and 35 to produce a synopsis for the Amstel Malta Box Office (AMBO) movie expected to be launched later in the year starring the current winner Bhaira McWizu.
It is the first time Amstel Malta will be throwing open the script for the AMBO movie. AMBO, the reality television show produced by Amstel Malta to discover movie talents is in its 4th season this year and has produced two successful movies so far.

AMBO 1 won by Azizat Sadiq, produced Sitanda while Whitewaters, the second AMBO movie features Okechukwu Ukeje winner of AMBO 2.

Amstel Malta, the low sugar malt drink with exceptional attributes began this partnership with Nollywood in 2005 with an objective to produce talents that will drive the growth of the industry.
A total of ten actors are selected for the show from a pool of contestants. Apart from running for three weeks, AMBO is audience participatory as viewers are usually involved in the eviction voting process.
Meanwhile, this year’s edition of the Star lager sponsored music talent hunt show, Star Quest is expected to generate a lot of excitement going by the number of entries received so far.

According to Sampson Oloche, Senior Brand Manager, Star, over 9000 entries have been received so far and www.star-nigeria.com the website, is seriously under pressure, getting a hit every other second.
Entry for the competition was announced penultimate week and is closing on Monday. This renewed interest in the competition, which has so far produced three music groups, has been attributed to the consistency of Star and its music platform over the years.

Apart from Star Quest, the brand is easily remembered for Star Trek, the annual music concert tour which takes several Nigerian music stars through ten cities. The show has run for several years and has become a rallying point to most music stars who look forward to it every year.

There is also Star Mega Jam, the annual international music concert, which for eight consistent years has featured top artistes like Shaggy Bombastic, Usher Raymond, Awilo Longomba, Kofi Olomide, 50 Cent, Jah Rule, Kevin Little, Akon, L.L Cool J and last year, the pair of Kanye West and T.
