Abolore Adegbola Akande, aka 9ice has another reason to be
happy. Few days after picking Revelation of the Year and Best
Male Vocal Performance for his part in Ruggedman’s hit,
“Ruggedibaba”, at the Hip-Hop World Awards last
Saturday, the music sensation has finally dropped his wave-making
album entitled “Gongo Aso”.
The 14 tracker titled after the hit single, “Gongo Aso”
which was produced by award-winning producer, ID Cabasa and
marketed by Afro Best, Blockbuster gathered
was released into the market on Tuesday.
Featuring 12 tracks and two skits, the album also included
collaborations with top musicians including TuFace, Pasuma
and Ruggedman.
Still basking in the euphoria of his recent awards, the rave
of the moment in an excited tone reveals that there is more
to the album than the hit song, “Gongo Aso”.
While attributing the success of his hit single to God, 9ice
adds, “I can assure my fans that this is not going to
be a one hit album as people will see the other side of 9ice.
This is why I have taken time to come out with a work that
will make people see that I can do other things apart from
Gongo Aso. In fact, the album will speak for itself.”
Explaining why the video for the song has not yet been released,
he says, “we have deliberately delayed the release of
the video of Gongo Aso because pirates will benefit more from
it. We have already begun work on other videos which will
be released in few months.”
9ice revealed further that plans are in top speed to have
a proper launch party which will be held in one of the biggest
hangouts in Lagos and will feature performances of the crème
of Nigeria’s music industry at a yet to be announced
date.
