A well-thought out programme to celebrate popular actor Olukayode
Olugbenga Odumosu aka Pa Kasumu whose acting career spans
four decades has been released.
According to the organisers, the ceremony is a two-day event
that will be preceded by a world press conference in April
and then courtesy visits to three South-West governors.
Ogun state governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel will declare the
event open come Friday, May 23, 2008 in Abeokuta where Pa
Kasumu hails from. This will be followed by a novelty football
match. And later in the evening, at the Cultural Center, Kuto,
Abeokuta fans and friends of Pa Kasumu will be treated to
the best of stage play, film show, gyration and cultural dance.
Saturday, May 31 will witness another blockbuster package
to celebrate Pa Kasumu. The day’s activities will commence
with a lecture at the Oyo Hall of Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja
by 11.00am. Guest lecturer is Prof. P.A Ogundeji of the Department
of Linguistics and African Languages, University of Ibadan.
He would speak on “Background, Challenges and Prospect
of the Yoruba Movie Industry”.
Then comes the night of glamour tagged “An Evening with
Pa Kasumu”, featuring a pot-pourri of activities including
exhibition of some of his old works, film premier, launching
of a biography authored by Alayande Stephen, musical performances,
playlet, comedy, documentary and unveiling of his pet project
at the Multi-purpose Hall, LTV Ground, Ikeja, Lagos.
The keynote address will be delivered by Chief Jide Kosoko,
National President, ANTP. Special Guest of Honour is Lagos
State governor Babatunde Fasola
The event is put together by Red Carpet Entertainment while
Goldmyne Entertainment (Box Office & Video Wheel), Saturation
Photography, Prime O Blow Concept and Walex Production are
partners. Corporate organisations are expected to buy into
the event so as to experience an unprecedented mileage and
brand/product leverage.
