Yahooze crooner, Olu Maintain and the Jagbajantis maestro,
Sound Sultan last weekend hit the serene city of Makurdi,
the Benue State capital with music. The event, which took
place at the prestigious The Places night club, was the Celtel
Nigeria Find Your Rhythm campaign, a live musical concert
featuring top artistes like 9ice, P-Square, Timaya, Baba Dee,
X-Project, Roof Top MCs, Ekwe, and D’Banj and the Mo’Hits
crew led by Don Jazzy.
The show also featured the popular dance act DNMT (Dance Na
de Main Thing). The group kept the entire audience on the
edge of their seats with their awe-inspiring choreographic
performance of such songs like P-Square’s “Do
Me” among others.
First to grace the glittering stage was an upcoming musician
that thrilled the audience with a masterful rendition of one
of the tracks from his yet to be released debut album. The
hall would be electrified later with the graceful entrance
of Sound Sultan.
It was the second time in three weeks that the Jos-born artiste
would be performing in the Celtel Find Your Rhythm campaign,
having been part of the Jos train.
However, it was Yahooze king that stole the night. Looking
radiant in an outfit that best mirrors his monster hit track,
the star of the former hip-hop group, Maintain made a grand
entry to a deafening roar from the audience who appeared to
have been eagerly waiting for him. He lived up to his billings
as the top performer for the night.
Olu like Sultan also used the opportunity to promote his new
album, with both artistes giving away free copies to the appreciative
audience. They also officiated in a raffle draw organized
by Celtel to reward some lucky members of the audience. The
lucky winners who were selected from a lucky dip, all went
home with a pack of free mobile phones and SIM cards.
Speaking at the event, the General Manager, North Central
of Celtel, Mr. Babatunde Lawson said that Find Your Rhythm
campaign was conceived with the youth in mind. He said Celtel
was using the campaign to connect with the youth, who he described
as the key segment of its market in Nigeria. He added that
with the campaign, Celtel was only urging the youth in the
country to find their rhythm with the people’s network.
The Celtel Find Your Rhythm train moves to Enugu this weekend
with hip-hop duo, P-Square and Faze billed to perform at the
Cave Night Club in New Haven.
