All is set for this year’s edition of Star Mega Jam,
the exciting international music concert sponsored by Star
Lager beer and parading top international artistes like Trevor
Tahiem Smith Jr. aka Busta Rhymes and Christopher Brian Bridges
aka Ludacris.
They would be joined by Nigeria’s biggest twin singing
sensation P-Square, D’Banj, Faze, Timaya, and 9ice to
thrill music lovers at the concert holding at the Lagos Polo
Club on December 11 and Old Parade Ground, Abuja on December
12, 2009. Past Star Quest winners like KC Presh, Diamonds
and The Pulse as well as hot debutants Wande Coal, Bracket
and M. I. are also on the bill.
According to Tony Agenmonmen, Marketing Manager, Lager, it’s
the 10th edition of the annual concert and Star lager is poised
to make it a memorable one for music lovers nationwide.
He says: “In line with the tradition of Star concerts,
the brand has made entry into these concerts very easy. The
gate fee for Lagos and Abuja will be maintained at N500 because
Star Mega Jam has come to stay as the biggest and brightest
music event in Nigeria. We intend to keep it so as one of
our ways of thanking millions of our consumers out there who
continue to keep Star the number one beer in Nigeria .”
On security, Agenmonmen says that arrangements in recent years
have been flawless and this year will be no exception. “We
have arranged for the best possible security deployment and,
as we have demonstrated in the last few years, all the venues
will be professionally lit and secured.”
The concert debuted in 2000 when it featured Makossa exponent
Awilo Logomba. This was followed in 2001 with the performance
of Grammy award winner, Shaggy. The 2002 edition also featured
Grammy award winner, Usher Raymond. In 2003, Koffi Olomide,
acclaimed father of Soukous, was on hand.
In 2004, rap super star, 50 Cent was featured on the demand
of music lovers. 2005 featured for the first time on the Star
Mega Jam stage, two international acts Ja Rule and Kevin Lyttle;
2006 paraded LL Cool J as well as international superstar,
Akon. In 2007, Kanye West and T Pain performed. And last year,
it was the turn of hip hop stars Nas and Nelly.
