It was a day of singing, dancing and merriment at Olodi-Apapa,
Lagos recently as Jesus Campaigners Ministries (JCM) celebrated
its seventh anniversary.
To commemorate the occasion, the general overseer of JCM,
Pastor Nath Ofor, was officially decorated as Chaplain Assistant
General of GIPEC College of Chaplains Inc, aka Lord’s
Army. The ordination was handled by Chaplain General (Dr)
B.C. Dimanozie, commandant/chief of chaplains who was assisted
by other officials of the organisation.
The occasion, which was marked with pomp, witnessed an impressive
turnout of clerics, worshippers, friends and well-wishers
who came from far and wide to be part of the festivities.
The guest speaker was Evangelist Liz Benson, Nollywood star,
who is making waves in her calling as a campaigner for the
saving gospel of Jesus Christ.
It was, indeed, a day of joy to behold as the congregation
gyrated to the melodious tunes in various languages from the
highly creative, vibrant and dexterous choir. Also, the Chaplain
Fellowship added military flavour to the event as they got
everyone marching for Lord in His house.
Speaking on the theme of the celebration, In Him we find rest,
Pastor Ofor maintained that rest comes through Jesus Christ
if the word is obeyed.
Averring that worldly affairs cannot guarantee rest , he said:
“Rest only comes from obeying the word of God. Act of
obedience brings happiness, joy and fulfillment. While disobedience
brings restlessness and despair.”
Pastor Ofor, therefore, tasked those professing Christianity
to grow in Christ likeness and remain steadfast rather than
running from church to church in search of elusive miracles.
According to him, problems cannot be packed away and magically
forgotten but those who seek the kingdom of God and its righteousness
would get it.
In her sermon, entitled, Supernatural intervention, Evang
Benson, charged believers to play life’s role diligently,
saying the love of God never fails and there is no situation
he cannot address according to His will.
She said: “Whatever you are going through, put up a
smile, don’t despair, maintain an unshaken faith because
all is well. Jesus Christ paid the prize on the cross in Calvary,
so no shaking.”
Noting that “there are times when we look at certain
situations, we think it is all over for us but God can make
things to change at any given time,” she remarked: “It
doesn’t matter how long you have been down, God will
lift you up when you get your acts right.”
According to Evang Benson, “when you sanctify yourself
something happens in your life,” regretting that “most
of us are not pratical as Christians.”
In all, she displayed a remarkable understanding of the word
even as her background as an actress manifested in her language
and output.
Speaking at the ordination of Pastor Ofor as Chaplain Assistant
General, Chaplain Deputy General Grace U. Dimanozie explained
that “the organisation is an international, non-denominational,
non-governmental charity based. The organisation helps in
creating a community of disciplined Christians with high standard
of morality and holiness. It helps a nation to create and
maintain disciplined citizens with fear of God.”
Speaking with Daily Sun, a member of the
organising committee, Mr Ezimmadu Onunka, said the church
had every cause to celebrate as God has been blessing members. |
