A new dimension has been added to car snatching in Lagos as a driver allegedly lost his car to a passenger after being charmed with juju.
The car, a blue Toyota Carina II saloon, with registration number GT 392 AAA, was used for car hire services.

Narrating how he dramatically lost his car, Adebayo Obatusi, a native of Ado Ekiti in Ekiti State, said the incident occurred around 2a.m on Saturday, March 22 on Isaac John Street, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.

How it happened
Obatusi, whose livelihood depends on the stolen car, said on that fateful morning, he picked a passenger on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi. According to him, the man came out from a popular night club on Awolowo Road and approached him for hire service and "we bargained for N700 per hour.
"From here, we left for Eko Hotel, where he went in briefly and came out after 10 minutes. We stopped again at a bar at Obalende, where he took a bottle of Star. He asked me to join him, but I declined the offer. It was from that point that we left for Isaac John Street in Ikeja, where we stopped at Metro Park."

Obatusi, however, added that he had no premonition of what was about to befall him, because he did not suspect the passenger. More so, he had operated car hire service for about five years now.
He said: "On our way to Ikeja, we chatted on issues, like cost of car maintenance and why he had to abandon his Benz car for public transportation each time he has to go out."

Trouble

Trouble, however, started for the car hire driver when suddenly, he began to feel dizzy.
"I managed to drive him down to Metro Park, a night club on Isaac John Street. On our way, he asked me to lend him my phone because, according to him, his battery has gone flat and I obliged him. By the time I managed to drive to Metro Park, I could not talk or drive or move my body. It was as if I was sleep walking and the next thing was that I found myself on the ground about two hours later," he said.
The commercial driver said the case has been reported at the Area F Headquarters, Ikeja of the Nigeria Police .

Optimism

Obatusi, expressed optimism that the stolen car, which he said was his only source of livelihood, would soon be recovered.
