Cops, others nabbed over fuel theft

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested 33 suspects, including six policemen for illegally siphoning fuel from the NNPC pipeline in the Igbokoda area of Ogun state.

The commandant general of the security agency, Ade Abolurin, who paraded the suspects, disclosed that they were arrested with the assistance of some soldiers.

He said: “The suspects, who were led by two senior police officers and other ranks and file, had loaded 32 trucks with fuel illegally siphoned from the NNPC pipeline. We rounded them up. In fact, they were caught in the act.”

He explained that 32 trucks, PTG 210 water pump WP 20 and seven locally made boat and two flying boats were recovered.
He warned vandals to desist from the illegal act or risk being arrested. However, the six policemen buried their faces in shame and refused to answer reporters’ questions.
