It was poetic justice for Azeez Dofunmi, 20, and Sherif Abiodun, two members of six man armed robbery gang that specializes in snatching cars, as they were involved in an accident with a stolen car.

According to Azeez, the gang’s mode of operation includes snatching cars and after robbing the occupants or owners, they would push them out and use the car to block another car and mete out the same treatment to the occupants of the next car.

Caught
As the robbers were escaping after snatching a car they got involved in an accident with the car on third Mainland Bridge. Azeez sustained injury on his shoulder and they later abandoned the car and boarded a bus going to Obalende that had a policeman passenger. His curiosity and security training were alerted when he noticed some development in the bus.

When the bus came to the first bus stop after Third Mainland Bridge, two of the gang members disembarked. At the next bus stop, another two disembarked. The policeman’s curiosity increased as he started wondering why the six that were together would be leaving in that manner. He nabbed Azeez and Sherif and they later confessed to their atrocities.

Azeez told Saturday Sun that there is nothing to show for the money that he has got from armed robbery operations except drinking ogogoro and smoking Indian hemp.
