Three alfas, who the police said were among those responsible
for the incidences of kidnapping and killings of innocent
people in the Lagos metropolis for ritual purposes, are now
in the police net.
They are, Adeniyi Sayau, Saheed Animashaun and Tafsir Raji.
The bubble burst for them when the trio, who said they met
at a Quranic school in Epe, Lagos, 10 years ago and later
became friends, allegedly murdered a 60-year-old man Lekan
Abiodun, in February 10, cut his head, two hands and manhood
for ritual and buried the body in shallow grave in Ogombo,
between Epe and Owode.
The victim’s journey to the unknown began when he approached
one of the alfas, Animashaun, who incidentally, was his brother-in-law
and requested for a magical power that would make his creditor’s
memory blank. He was said to have borrowed N30,000 from a
man who later claimed it was N60,000.
As Animashaun could not prepare the charms that could blur
somebody’s memory, he decided to contact Raji and Sayau
for assistance.
After discussing on phone, the victim was asked to come to
Raji’s house in Epe, where Sayau was also co-opted into
the bloody business.
While in Raji’s house, instead of finding solution to
his problem, the suspects chose to use him as solution to
their own financial predicament, by killing him and using
parts of his body to prepare concoction that would make them
millionaires.
According to Raji, after drinking the concoction, he was supposed
to make love to a woman who would have died 24 hours later,
before her spirit could start spinning money.
Though Animashaun admitted inviting his brother-in-law to
Raji’s house, he denied any involvement in his death.
He said he was sent away before Abiodun was murdered. After
the murder, Animashaun went home, thinking his tracks were
covered.
Unknown to him, the victim had told members of his family
his whereabouts.
Daily Sun gathered that when the search for the victim started,
the first port of call was Animashaun’s house and he
quickly denied any knowledge of Abiodun’s whereabouts.
It was after severe torture that Animashaun owned up to the
crime.
Though Sayau and Raji denied killing Abiodun, they admitted
being involved in ritual killings.
When the police stormed their houses, human skull, pubic hair
of female victims and other human parts, wrapped alongside
aligator pepper and Indian hemp, small coffins, among others,
were recovered.
Sayau told Daily Sun that the public region was used to prepare
love charms. He said he was among those who go to cemeteries
to exhume dead bodies and remove human parts, adding that
he was not involved in killing human beings.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar,
said a team of pathologists from the Lagos State University
Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), including police medical team,
exhumed the body of Abiodun, where it was buried in a shallow
grave. He explained that investigation was still going on
to recover the severed parts.
