Some gallant traders in Odi-Olowo area of Ilupeju, Lagos, have disarmed two members of a robbery gang.
The traders were said to have arrested one of the suspected robbers, while his accomplice escaped.

The arrested suspect, identified as Femi Omolere, is being detained at the Ilupeju police station. Daily Sun gathered that the suspect would soon be transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, Lagos, for further interrogation.

According to a source, the suspect was apprehended in a shop located at number 15, Awoyokun Street, Onipanu, Ikorodu Road, Lagos, belonging to one Nonso Nnaukwu. A locally made pistol was also recovered from him. Nonso and Victor were said to be inside their shop, when Tunde (at large) entered, pretending to have come to buy Jean trousers from them.

As the traders were attending to him, Omolere came in, claiming to have come in company of Omolere, to purchase some jeans trousers. Sensing danger, a source said Nonso tried to go out of the shop but he was prevented by Omolere, who later pulled his pistol and ordered them to lie down.

“Nonso summoned up courage and grabbed Omolere, who was holding a pistol. Victor was said to have challenged Tunde, who attacked him with sharp object, before he made good his escape. Omolere was, however, over-powered and later handed over policemen from Ilupeju Police Division.

Meanwhile, Omolere has made useful statement to the police, while the crime fighters were said to have spread their dragnets to nab fleeing Tunde. A police officer, who pleaded anonymity confirmed the incident to Daily Sun.
