There may be days when you feel like wearing evey hue of the rainbow and then there are days when just a splash of colour might be best. It's really not the color you wear as much as it is how you wear the color.

Dark or muted colours like beige, brown, black and even white can be given a boost by wearing just one other item in a vivid colour, like bright red shoes or a brilliant blue handbag.

Bear in mind that this only works when you are using one bright-coloured item. Too much of your crazy bright colour tonic and you end up looking like a traffic light run amok.
You also have to be aware that this brightly coloured item has to be something you want people to look at; scuffed shoes and a peeling handbag might not be the greatest items to put on show. Plus, if the item has fabric on it, you need to invest a bit of money in it.

Nothing looks cheaper than poor quality fabrics in bright colours. They just do not hold the pigment the way they should and look cheesy. But that's not to say that you need to spend a fortune if you want to wear intensive colors. Always wear natural fabrics like cotton or silk that hold the bright and vivid dye as they should for the best look on any budget.
Colour is such an easy investment to update a wardrobe that it is hard to go wrong with it.
