Recare LId, the owners and manufacturers of Natures Gentle
Touch range of Herbal blend TM products will be hosting a
national hair stylists competition tagged "Expert Touch
Award".
The objective of the Expert Touch Award, Hair Stylists Competition,
organizers say, is to identify, reward and promote professional
stylists who excel in their craft.
The vision of the award is to shift paradigms and prove that
African hair stylists can produce products and styles that
rival the best in the world.
They added that participation in the award is only for practicing
stylists and qualified hairdressers.
The portfolio submission and prejudging has been done with
stylists presenting one (I) day style (casual) front and back
(1) evening style (bridal) and front and backside photographic
examples of their work.
This portfolio submission and judging stage has brought out
10 contestants judged based on the best practice and by using
experienced cosmetologists and stylists from the industry.
Their judgment was based on quality of relaxed hair, creativity
of style, techniques used to create the style, finished look
of model and overall presentation of portfolio.
At the end of the keenly contested stage, the 10 contestants
went home with N40,OOO.OO (forty thousand naira only) to aid
them in their preparation for the next stage in which an overall
winner will eventually emerge.
At this final stage presentation, bridal and avant-garde or
fantasy style will be judged based on theme, music and outfits.
According to Amaka Nwabuna, the Brand Manager, Natures Gentle
Touch, "the final stage will give creative leeway for
the stylists to present their mini fashion show where music,
costume and mood will be at the stylists' discretion.”
This, she said, is to stimulate trend setting hair designs
from Africa which can take the fashion and beauty world by
storm.
