The desire for the promotion of world peace recently brought Christian clergymen and traditional religionists together as the United Nations Universal Federation of Peace installed the Head of Ogboni Aborigine Fraternity Worldwide, Oba Bolaji Naibi, as Ambassador for Peace.

The ceremony demonstrated the need for understanding and tolerance in matters of religion, stressing that only the cooperation of all could ensure peace in the world. Peace, the investiture has proved, is what humanity should embrace for the betterment of all as war destroys while peace allows a people to be constructively engaged in productive activities to earn a living.

The occasion was a spectacle as Bishop (Dr.) A. J. Osamuyi, who is the African Director of the world, decorated Oba Naibi with a cape on which Ambassador for Peace was boldly written at the Massey Auditorium, Afromedia area of Okokomaiko in Lagos.
The bishop was assisted in the investiture rites by members of his entourage which included Bishop (Dr.) I.J.K Idiareh and Bishop (Dr.) Igoma, all representatives of the peace federation in Africa.

In his speech, Bishop Osamuyi said people were never appointed ambassador for peace because they are rich, noting that only those who could cope with the challenges of the office were bestowed with the honour. He called on Naibi to brace up for the onerous duties of his new office. “The task of fostering peace may take you to any part of the world. It could be in Africa, Asia, Europe or the United States (US). It is a sacrifice that your office demands,” the clergyman told Naibi.

He said Naibi was considered fit and qualified because of his past humanitarian gestures and philanthropic activities.
Bishop Idiareh, while speaking earlier, had explained that the desire for peace in the world is beyond religion, ethnicity or colour, emphasizing the need for all people of goodwill throughout the world to help promote peace in whichever sphere of life they may find themselves.

In his response, Naibi thanked God for preserving his life and endowing him with values that qualified him for his new appointment of Ambassador for Peace. He expressed joy that the need for promotion of peace among people of the world had bridged the gulf of religious divide, stressing that the new relationship will engender understanding and tolerance among people of different religions that will bring an end to rabid fanaticism. He thanked the Universal Federation of Peace for the honour done him, promising that he would always do everything in his power to discharge his duties wherever his services are needed.
