Commissioner for Health, Anambra State, Dr Amobi Ileka, has condemned abortion in all its ramification, urging lawmakers, both at federal and state levels to rise against any bill that supports abortion, just as he appealed to the media to educate the public on the dangers and moral condemnation of killing the unborn child.

The commissioner spoke to Daily Sun, in remembrance of unborn child, held in March every year.

Abortion and other killings
We want to use this opportunity to condemn mercy killing, cult killing, violence in any form, racial killing and anything that makes one to take somebody’s life even suicide.

Today is a very special day. We want to remember these unborn children and in commemorating this event we want to also remember mothers of these unborn children that have been traumatized, brutalized whose conscience have been bruised probably because they were forced into the situation that led to the act.
Let us remember that abortion is any action deliberately taken to cause the death of the unborn child within her mother’s womb. It is a crime. It is the mother of all crimes. This is why we are worried. It is the killing of innocent and defenceless child. The child has not committed any crime. Even if the pregnancy is a product of rape, the child is yet innocent because it did not contribute anything to that particular act.

Charity and love
Abortion is the greatest crime against charity and love. This child you are aborting has done nothing. It is charitable on our part to love children. They are most loveable people. When you commit abortion you have committed sin against charity and love for others.
What do you think of a society where there is no love, where there is no charity? That society is doomed, and gone for ever.

Abortion is against human rights. It denies the unborn child its right of existence after conception. It is the child’s inalienable right to exist, right to have a home and so on and so forth. These rights are basically enshrined in our constitution and a breach of any of them attracts the force of the law.
So, when you abort you have denied the child these inalienable rights, which are already given it by God. Inalienable rights are rights already given by God, by virtue of our creation. Only God has the right to take life.

Violence
Abortion is the entry point to violence, entry point to discrimination. It is all about stronger people killing the weaker ones; that is survival of the fittest, this act leads to conscience killing which gives rise to all sorts of violent crimes.

It is important for us to understand today that the world is being overwhelmed by violence. Political violence, people killing one another in the name of politics, cult violence at the higher institutions, violence throughout the whole world, Niger Delta and many others, these are products of people killing their conscience.

People fight and stab each other because they have primed their conscience. So, you can see that abortion is the entry point to violence, entry point in the sense that once we disabuse our conscience, when we get our conscience to accept that we can kill maybe because we don’t want a female child or maybe we want to travel abroad, we promote violence.

Appeal
We call on federal and states Houses of Assembly to resist any bill that is meant to legalize abortion. Such as a bill should be thrown away. The media equally have a major role to play. They should educate the general public on the dangers inherent in abortion. It is morally condemned.
Once fertilization has taken place, the child is formed and it should not be killed. Human life should be protected from womb to the tomb.

Abortion is a challenge to our culture, it is a challenge to the entire human race. Even the use of condom is anti-culture. It is against human dignity. Male and female should take responsibility of their sexual act and any doctor that commits abortion has violated his oath. All of us must come out to fight abortion
