Although Rev. Chudi Obi is a lawyer and teacher, he is also a priest in St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Alaba, Lagos. He has won so many souls for God over the years and has vowed to continue the work of God for the rest of his life. In an interview with Daily Sun recently, Obi spoke on his calling, benefits of Salvation and his life as a priest. The priest hails from Obulu Orijiofor in Orlu West Local Government Area of Imo State, married and blessed with children.

Call
The calling started when I was in the university studying law, it got to a point in school, I became a student of circumstance because there were so many challenges, then I vowed to God that if I graduate from the university and become a lawyer, I will serve Him for the rest of my life.

After the vow, things changed positively and I graduated and became a lawyer, after some years of practice, I had a dream which was explained to me by Bishop Maduoma who was then a vicar, that God wanted me to work in His vineyard, I should not relent in doing the work of God. I found myself in the seminary. After that, I was ordained as a priest.

Life as a priest
I try my best to live a righteous life daily. Firstly, when I wake up in the morning I will have a quiet time on my own to pray to God, after that I will have another quiet time with my family between 5.30am and 6.00am after which I move to the church for morning prayer with the members of the church and ends by 7.00am, then I will return to the vicarage to do other things.

Salvation and miracle
Salvation is the acceptance of God who created us and His power of His resurrection while miracle is the confirmation of Jesus Christ, that is, the evidence that God is invading the kingdom of Satan. According to the scripture, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and its righteousness and other things shall be added unto you." In the society today, the contrary is the case as people no longer seek God but miracles. But the earlier they seek God first, the better for the society.

Prosperity and the Church

Christianity is when you have a place in your heart for God before asking God for prosperity because it is God’s wish to bless and favour His people. So, prosperity is part of what Christians benefit for serving God. Prosperity should not be the focus because Abraham loved and obeyed God first before he blessed Him. Church must know prosperity is not the focus, rather they should prepare the people to acknowledge Christ, once the Church has prosperity as the focus, then the Church is endangered.

Tithe
Tithe is the one tenth of the earnings of men given unto God. He said this aspect of our earning is consecrated unto Him. It is also an obedience of man unto God and He loves obedience and honours it. So, let man trust God and express faith.

Morality situation of the society

Morality has been relegated to the background because corruption has invaded the society today, these include financial corruption, institutional corruption, corruption in the church, corruption in leadership, fornication, adultery, homosexual and lesbians, among others. This shows the level of debasement of human kind, in this regard, the society is returning to the stage of Sodom and Gomorrah. Our ladies’ dressing today does not conform to the scripture, which says our ladies should dress moderately as women who adore God, while men have also disobeyed God in so many ways. But the earlier we repent of our sins the better for the society.
