Jobelyn. This is just one of the many herbal products produced
by Health Forever Products Limited. In fact, the Managing
Director of the company, Mr Olajuwon Okubena, sees it as the
king of all products.
According to him, Jobelyn is a cure-all-disease drug, including
the diseases the other of its sister products have been formulated
to attack.
The Health Forever Products boss in this encounter with Daily
Sun, reveals how he came about the product that has gladdened
the hearts of physicians as well as bringing succour to many
patients.
Background
My name is Olajuwon Okubena. I grew up in the village where
I was born over 60 years ago. I attended the primary school
in my village called Ilese in Ijebu in the then North Eastern
local government of Ogun State. After my primary and secondary
school, I was a teacher for a brief period. And then I attended
the teachers’ training college. I left teachers’
training college in 1960 and sat for the GCE as it was then
called as a private candidate.
I got all the required subjects, but decided that I will do
private study because I couldn't afford to go to the university.
So, I studied privately and qualified as a chartered secretary
in 1963. Then between 1963 and 1967 I also studied and qualified
as a Cost and Management Accountant. So, by the time I qualified
I was still a teacher, I was the vice-principal of a high
school, formerly called Premier College. So, after I qualified,
I went to work in the industry. I joined Guinness Nigeria
Limited as an accountant and I became the chief accountant.
But I became disinterested in routine accounting work, so
I joined a management consultancy company now known as KPMG.
I rose to become the executive director in 1979 and spent
four years before I retired in 1983.
After this I went into farming, full-time farming, I was producing
eggs and day chicks. That was what I was doing until 1993
when I was attacked in that farm. I was actually living on
the farm and only came to Lagos on the weekends. In that attack
I almost lost my life.
It was more or less like an assassin or an armed robbery attack.
I was shot in the head and I survived it. But something curious
happened. Somebody had predicted that attack about three weeks
before. So, when it actually happened, I was suspicious that
it might be the person who was actually party to the planning.

It's not that we produce a single product. We started with
a single product, but then we still have other products. But
I will call this one a universal remedy. At first, I didn't
know the mechanism, how it works, but I just know that if
you have sickle cell, if I give it to you, it will work, if
you have diabetes, if I give it to you, it will work, if you
have hypertension, if I give it to you, it will work and it
works within a very short time. For diabetes within 17 days
you are already cured.
One day, a friend came to see me and he said he was going
to visit his pastor. He said the son had kidney problem, that
he lost one of the sons a few months before and that the second
son too was also having the same problem, that he was going
to visit the man and the son in the hospital. They were all
members of the same church.
So, I told him that I have something, which has been working
for everybody, that if he would not say he is a pastor and
he would not want to take herbs I can give it to him. And
he said he would go and talk to him. So, he went to talk to
the pastor and the pastor was anxious and actually followed
him. I mixed the powder inside the water.
They brought the young man, he was about 26 years and I gave
them the liquid to go and try and they went away. A week after
that, the man came back to ask for more and it was then that
he told me what happened. He said that the boy was going through
dialysis at Gbagada General Hospital and that after dialysis
every patient, must have to be given blood transfusion, that
after he started using the product his blood was always correct.
There was no problem with the blood and the doctors were curious.
They asked him what was happening because it was strange that
after going through dialysis the boy didn't require blood
transfusion again.
Funding
When I was in agriculture, I started developing this project
and I had to divert part of my working capital into developing
this project. It almost ruined that agricultural project.
Having taken off, we now have to be growing at a very slow
pace by ploughing whatever we make back into the business
and that is how we are now developing gradually.
Having now found that the thing was curing everything, I talked
to an orthodox doctor, one Igbo doctor, and he became interested.
So, he asked for the sample. I went to his clinic and mixed
the sample in his presence and tasted it. So, he took the
spoon from me and also tasted it and said ah! The taste is
very good that it was not offensive. I left the rest to him.
I didn't know he kept it and took it for three days. When
I met him after one week he said, what I produced was very
powerful, that within one week he found out he was able to
urinate well, was able to rest and relax well, was able to
eat better, that it gave him the type of energy, that he worked
for 24 hours non-stop.
I asked him if we could do some trials within his hospital
to be able to have some records on how it works. He agreed
we started with anaemic patients, people who are short of
blood. So, he did the trial for about 20 per cent and we couldn't
believe it.
Within one week the levels of their blood moved up to 60,
80, 100 per cent. So, that encouraged me to say the next thing
I will do was to go to the teaching hospitals so that they
could do empirical studies on it. With that I can now actually
convince the scientists and other doctors. So, that was how
we headed for the teaching hospital and they did animal studies.
The rats treated became well, while the ones that were not
treated, all died.
