Dockworkers employed by AP Moller Terminals Apapa Limited, are employees like any other, and enjoy their monthly pay each month.
Managing Director of the company, Mr Michael Lund Hansen told journalists in Apapa that they have employment contract like any other and are paid overtime if they work.
He said that the company has 750 employees and 25 on standby who would be engaged when the need arises.

Mr Hansen declined to say how much the least paid dockworker collects at the end of the month or even how much the highest dockworker in the company receives.

He contends that the dockers also at retirement, have entitlements like any other employee anywhere, even though the conditions of employment and conditions of service differ from country to country.

“We do not pay our dockworkers on tonnage or on daily arrangement, but as full fledged employees.
They are trained on various aspects of our operations and they are happy with us. “What we pay them is commensurate with the work they do.
“Apart from training them, we also kit them appropriately and they are happy with their employment,” he added.
