Motorists in Lagos whose vehicle particulars have expired have been advised to renew them to avoid delay and unnecessary embarrassment that may arise from routine checks by the Police and vehicle inspection officers (VIOs).

The advice was given by the permanent secretary, Lagos State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency, Mr. Akin Hanson, during a performance review meeting of the agency at Agidingbi in Lagos.

He disclosed that information from the database of the agency showed that over 80,000 motorists whose vehicle licences were due for renewal between January and March this year, were yet to do so.

Mr. Hanson reminded motorists that it is a punishable traffic offence to put vehicles on the road without valid documents. He stated that the government has continually made accessibility to vehicle licence easy and fast as the product is obtainable in more than 500 branches of the various banks and the 38 licensing offices across the state.
