Are you a Nigerian? Are you between the age bracket of 21
and 30? Do you dream of being the next great thing to happen
in Nigerian entertainment? Watch out! Star Quest, NB Plc’s
music reality TV show has kicked off and guess what? N7.1million
and a minivan are at stake and you could be the winner.
This much was disclosed by Yusuf Ageni, Corporate Affairs
Adviser, NB Plc, at a press conference to unveil this year’s
edition.
“In 2002, Star introduced Star Quest, in line with its
core values. Star Quest is arguably the best musical talent
hunt contest in Nigeria. KC Presh emerged the winners of the
maiden edition. Today, they are stars and have toured the
world.
It has also produced D’Accord and De Jewels, promising
bands that could transform the face of Nigerian music. This
year’s edition is poised to raise the bar. The quest
for a band for 2008 has begun,” said Ageni.
Consequently, entries are being solicited from the general
public. To qualify, contestants must be proficient in at least,
one musical instrument or have vocal potentials. Must also
fall between the age brackets of 21-30. Thirty-six finalists
would be drawn from the six zones of the country and sequestered
at Star Fame Land for a period of four weeks. Six bands would
emerge and vie for the ultimate prize.
Among others they are expected to create and produce their
own original music on which basis, the viewing public would
vote through SMS.
According to Ageni, Star Quest 2008 would be broadcast on
TV live. The national final would be held on May 10, 2008
among the three bands that make it to the final.
