Mixed reactions have continued to trail the ugly incident of Sarturday, December 4, when the aides of Nigerian hip-hop artiste Eedris Abdulkareem engaged the bodyguards of American music star, 50 Cent, in fistcuffs. When Daily Sun went to the court of artistes’ opinion, accusing fingers pointed at different directions.

From all indications, the three parties to the conflict; the organiser, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Eedris, and 50 Cent, all had shares in the blame.

Well, I will say it’s honestly unfair of Eedris to 50 Cent. The issue is that, if he was disatisfied with the way things went, he ought to expressed his displeasure before the Nigerian Breweries Plc. It’s really bad. Now that the matter has become a diplomatic issue between the Nigeria and the USA, there will be more to the issue than anyone of us could immagine. It may create another bad image for Nigerians abroad. While Nigeria is still seeking ways to improve on its image within the international community, that unfortunate incidence will possibly have negative effect on the contry’s image. NBL are in the best position to explain why they came up with such an arrangement .

I cannot say anything for now. I can’t support anybody, neither would I blame anyone of them. Eedris did what he felt was right. And 50 Cent too. So I don’t think I am in the best position to apportion blames to anyone of them. The two musicians I believe are matured enough to realise the implications of their actions on their fans.

If we are calling for foreign aids, we should accomodate rather than quarel with foreign musicians visiting the country.

It’s wrong. In the first instance, Eedris is not on the same level with 50 Cent as Nigeria is not on equal rating with America. For an artiste as big as 50 Cent visiting Nigeria, our people ought to have sought ways of entering into a working relationship with the musician instead of quarelling with them. I believe that both of them are musicians, not thugs. Musicians discuss music but not disagree with one another. For instance, when Wyclef came in September, he had a deal with Tuface, Face and Sound Sultan and they recorded a song. If Eedris couldn’t have a good rapport with 50 Cent, but only thought about fighting, then the guy must be wrong upstairs. I believe the best thing is that he should be taken to Aro psychiatric hospital.

Sound Sultan

I don’t want to pass any comment now. I will come up with my own finding and make an assessment of the incidence later.

Well, I was not there when the whole thing happened. When I finished my own show at the TBS, I took a flight and headed for Benin. I was not aware of what transpired between the two of them. I don’t have a clear picture of what happened. But as regards who occupies what seat in the aircraft, 50 Cent was a visitor and I believe he should be treated as such.

Father U-Turn

Eedris is very right. Let them know that we too deserve some dignity. He was very very right. In fact, if I was Eedris, I would have done more than that not minding the implications. Is NB Plc the only organisation that package shows in Nigeria? Would 50 Cent have accepted that type of insult in his country? He cannot take such rubbish. We will not allow any one to give us second hand treatment in our own country. They pay foreign artistes about N150m and our own artistes get N400, 000 or highest N500,000. Still, you cant even treat them well. So, I support what Eedris did.

Baba Friyo

I believe we should receive visitors and treat them well. We ought to cooperate with them and see what we can do together. You mean if a visitor comes to your house, you would be struggling with him over seat? You are to give him the best seat in your house and not fight him.
