With the influx of South American soap operas in the country and the growing patronage by entertainment lovers, Rhema production is set to return the good old days of soap with its new title, Shock of his life.

Rhema production, organisers of Fight For Fame is currently shooting the soap which comprises winners of the first competition which held at MUSON Centre three years ago. To make the soap attain world standard, Reverend Innocent Peace is leaving no stone unturned as he has deployed over 70 cast and crew with a High Definition camera to shoot the first 13 of the 52 episodes billed for the programme.

Debuting as a director in this movie is the first winner of Fight for fame, Iyke Michael, who has garnered experience through his involvement in diverse productions since joining Nollywood.
“ This is my debut in directing and it’s been wonderful and tasking as well but all the same it is something I have passion for.

The soap is about various people in the society. The story centers on Chief Nwachukwu, a randy businessman and his family. It reflects the pains and gains of the family as well as good parenting. It is a controversial soap which depicts a home filled with intrigues, action and comedy.

We have lots of shots most directors ignore. We want to set a standard in story telling, acting and interpretations of roles. I need to say that Denzel Washington who is one of the best actors and director in Nollywood inspired me in both acting and directing” explained Michael who hinted that passion drove him into acting and directing.

Mariam Oji-last, winner of Fight for fame talent hunt show, and currently cast as Salome, Chief Chukwu’s wife saw her role as a challenging one. “ Shock of his life is not just the normal role but it has lots of twists. First, you see Salome a cool headed and good wife metamorphose to a grade A adulterer after she caught her husband in an compromising position with another woman.”
Oji, who has acted in soaps and movies such as Split of fire, Rescue, Binta and friends, One Bad Apple, Footprints, Kombo city running among others hinted that she has an understanding man in her life that holds her career dear to his heart.

Peace, the brain behind the talent hunt and the soap is not afraid of trying out raw talents who he believes need a lot of encouragement to hit limelight and make it big. “ I want to encourage raw talents which Rhema has discovered. All the big names started off like this. Rome was not built in a day so we have to encourage them.

With the way the industry is going, I believe soaps are needed. As we can see, the South American soaps have taken over, that is why I decided to look at that direction especially when you compare it with the South American stories. I decided to bring a positive change. I believe that if you can get a story that will be well interpreted, we would be back on your feet.”

Peace who produced his first movie, Hammer, the good criminal in 2004 is also assistant director of the project. He said that Rhema production is both producing and sponsoring the soap for now. And that the soap would run on several local and international television stations.
