Day Ali Baba, Basorge, others stormed Reagan girls

Showbiz personalities are usually regarded as role models in any society and are seen as those who make people happy through entertainment.

For ace comedian, Basorge Tariah Junior, it was a fulfilling experience entertaining students of Reagan Memorial Baptist Girls Secondary School, Sabo Yaba.
The event was the Cultural and Drama Club day, which held inside the premises of the school and equally graced by other celebrities such as Ali Baba, Wazobia radio presenter, Steve Onu also known as Yaw, among many others.
The occasion featured other activities such as dancing competition for both JSS and SSS, miming, singing and cultural dance.

The contestants as well as participants were given prizes, ranging from cash to gift items.
The event which was chaired by Ali Baba also featured a guest artists, ROC, who thrilled with delight. A well choreographed dance by Mo Hits’ Pere was presented by Junior mimers while the Seniors danced to P-square’s Roll it. Also, Baptist Academy was not left out as a group of four boys from the school presented a song entitled, All in all and another number.

Highpoint of the occasion was when the trio of Basorge, Ali Baba and Yaw mounted the stage and danced to the admiration of an excited audience who rooted for more.
Tolani Akolade was awarded gifts for being the most committed executive member while the overall most committed executive award went to the newly elected president of the club, Ogunubi Elizabeth.
Tariah who is the patron of the club charged the new excos to have passion and enthusiasm to run the club in the next year. He also urged them to learn to serve and develop confidence and selflessness in themselves.

The Patron who praised Ogunubi described her as a selfless and promising girl.
In her acceptance speech, Ogunubi, who is in SS2, promised to keep the flame on and do her best to take the club to the next level.
Matron of the club, Mrs. Lilian Emen urged the newly elected executives to be hardworking and emulate their predecessors.

Out going president Colette Atana, who compered the ceremony told Daily Sun that she had a lot of challenges such as finance, the reluctance of students to co-operate and having worked almost round the clock for the success of the event. Her words, “ I want to thank uncle Barsorge for his immense support. We thought we couldn’t do it anymore but Barsorge came to our rescue. I pray that God will continue to bless him and his family. Now I can say I am fulfilled with the help of Basorge. It wasn’t easy. I also want to thank my students who co-operated with me and my excos. My vision is for the school to reach international level.”

“My prayer for them is to make it in life, if they are bold and confident, they would be able to face the challenges of life,” Mrs. Emem added.
For Barsorge who believes in human development, it is another opportunity to boost the morale of the teenagers.

“ It would help build self confidence in them, bridge the gap between the young and old. You know when we were growing up, we were told that being educated alone would give us what we desire of life but we have long discovered that our natural talent could be an alternative source of livelihood, you never can tell
Tariah also urged other artistes to encourage the youths saying, “ It is not all about making money but also to help encourage and build up others for the betterment of the society who in the first place made you.”
Ali Baba- in his own remarks said, “ it’s a way of encouraging children to discover their hidden talents and teach them to have confidence in themselves.”
