Nwankwo Kanu has taken heart over the decision of Portsmouth stopping him from making a trip to Beijing, China, to watch Dream Team IV in Saturday's Olympics soccer final against Argentina.

Papillo had earlier told brilafm.net exclusively on Tuesday that Pompey had refused an initial hint of releasing him to attend the game, in which he would be a main inspiration for the Nigerian team, as skipper of the Atlanta '96 winning squad, but said he had no ill-feelings over the u-turn at Fratton Park.

Instead of getting worked up over the decision, Kanu said he knew the boys were good enough to win even in his absence.
"The team are good already. So, there’s nothing I can tell them except to say that they should keep doing what they are doing
.
"They should stay focused and committed, play every ball like it is the last one and make sure they don't give their opponents any space then hope for luck to go their way," Kanu said.
