Heartland management face sack

Indications are rife that the management of Heartland will be kicked out by the Imo State Government if they fail to lead the Naze Warriors to victory against Tout Pussiant, (TP) Mazembe in the return leg tie billed for Lubumbashi, Congo Democratic Republic (DR).
An insider informed SoccerStar that the current management of Heartland could escape the axe if they lift the 2009 CAF Champions League. It said: “The truth is that the Heartland Continental Committee was inaugurated to understudy the Chief Ignatius Okeahialam-led management. But to everybody’s surprise, Okeahialam led the management to see Heartland to CAF Champions League final, thus, the idea was jettisoned.
The source maintained that what would save the Okeahialam-led management from sack would be for them to win the Champions League. It added: “As the saying goes, it is not usually advisable to change a winning team. This was what has saved the Heartland management up till now. There would have been a public outcry if a management doing well on the continent was abruptly or suddenly changed.”
SocckerStar however, gathered that questions are being asked why some people are hell-bent on removing Okeahialam who has worked so hard to stabilise the team. It is on record that before the state government decided to take over the Heartland, the team were really poverished and were heading for dissolution. That time, it was Okeahialam who took over the team and managed it all alone for years, picking and paying all the bills alone. So, why must he be sacked now when the cloud is clearer?
