Super Eagles striker, Osaze Odemwingie, has challenged his teammates
to step up their trade and beat Kenya in their last group game slated
for Kasarani on Saturday.
The Lokomotiv Moscow striker said before the team’s departure
to Nairobi that they were not oblivious of the fact that the East
Africans need that game to book a place at the next African Nations
Cup in Angola and will want to do everything to achieve their ambition.
Kenya have never beaten Nigeria in a competitive outing and Odemwingie
has urged his colleagues to approach the game with a higher level
of determination.
“It’s true that Kenya have never beaten Nigeria, but
that could just be the motivation they need to do well against us
this time around. They want to go to Angola and will do all they
can to make it happen.”
Eagles land in Kenya
Head coach, Amodu Shaibu, led players of the national football team,
Super Eagles, into the city of Kasarani this morning as the team
get set for Saturday’s 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying match
against Kenya in Nairobi.
Amodu led other members of the technical crew including Fatai Amoo,
Daniel Amokachi and Alloy Agu and 22 players into the country aboard
a charttered flight.
The coach left the country early hours of today with strong words
for their opponents.
The coach said their mission in the East African country was to
win the game as anything short of victory would spell doom for the
country’s chances of picking the ticket to the mundial
He said they were banking on miracle to qualify but still have to
do their beat hoping that the result in Maputo would favour the
country.
“We have to win the game,” he quipped. “We don’t
have to think about the Tunisia game. We just have do our best by
beating,” he said.
