CSKA Moscow of Russia defender, Chidi Odiah, has described the 2010 African Cup of Nations draw, which pits Nigeria with Egypt, Mozambique and Benin Republic in Group C, as good.

While also looking ahead of the World Cup in South Africa, Ordia underlined the importance of good preparations and told brilafm.net that Nigeria could possibly win the African trophy at the end of the January event in Angola.

“The group is a good one for us. You can see what happened during the qualifiers. There is no small team now.

“Egypt are champions and it’s a tough one. We are going to the Nations Cup with great countries and, in all, we want to win the Nations Cup. We just have to fight and go as far as we can to the finals and, if possible, win the Cup,” he enthused.

...Sodje commends team for World Cup ticket
Charlton Athletic defender, Sam Sodje, has expressed profound delight at the Super Eagles’ qualification for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and admitted that playing in the Mundial was the big dream of any footballer worth his salt.

Although Sodje was not a part of the historic team that beat Kenya 3-2 in Nairobi, the former Brentford Town and Reading star said during a live telephone interview on Sports Radio 88.9 Brila FM that he followed the Eagles flight in his spirit.

“I wasn’t there physically, but I was there spiritually, praying for the team. It’s a dream come true for these players. It was also a happy day for me because, on the same day, I scored for my club as well and everyone is happy. We are in the World Cup.
“That is the biggest thing. Even if you play in the Serie A, Premiership, La Liga, the World Cup is the biggest stage.
“Hopefully, I can go with the team. If not, I’ll still be happy that the team are there,” Sodje noted.
