After watching out-of-favour Nigerian goalkeeper, Vincent
Enyeama provide a brilliant goalkeeping platform to help Hapoel
Tel Aviv shock Getafe 2–1 in Spain, Super Eagles’
Coach, Berti Vogts, has given his clearest hint yet that the
former first choice would be in the party to Ghana 2008.
Enyeama has not featured in any competitive game since Vogts
took over in March and has largely been relegated to a standby
role in Vogts’ squad.
But the German was in the stands to see the former Enyimba
keeper deny Getafe and said that although he was unimpressed
by the quality of the play, Enyeama did well.
"It was a poor game and was not of international standard.
The stadium was not full, maybe of about 8,000 or 10,000 people.
But he did very well. He made about four saves. He is a good
goalkeeper."
Vogts was non-committal about Enyeama's Nations Cup place,
but with three goalkeepers to be registered for the tourney,
the German's next statement was significant.
"I am happy because I have three very good goalies."
The former Germany coach however, told Kick Off that he did
not have time to have a chat with the player.
"I did not speak with him. The game ended late and they
had to go to their hotel. The next day, I had to fly to England
to watch Portsmouth and Everton game."
Vogts will name his Nations Cup squad next week in Abuja.
