Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) took the bull by the horns on Tuesday when they turned down TSG 1899 request to release Dream Team striker, Chinedu Ogbuke, even at the middle of the Olympic soccer event. The German club had written to the Secretary General of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) seeking the release of the talented striker immediately but the secretary advised them to route their letter to the NFF.

The club sent the letter to the NFF Tuesday morning but angry Bolaji Ojo-Oba, NFF’s general secretary described the move as a calculated insult on Nigeria.
"This is the hieght of insult," Ojo-Oba snapped. "Can you imagine a club writing for the release of a star player at the heat of a championship like the Olympic Games! Well, we have bluntly told them to swallow their pride. It is not possible to release him.

"It is high time we called the bluff of these foreign clubs. Can you imagine that Taiye Taiwo who was part of the qualifiers was not released by his club. That's arrant nonsense."
Coach Siasia also said that there was no way he could release the striker now because 'he's part of my plan for our match today against the US.
