The die is cast for the big payday transfer, as London side, Arsenal, have made the boldest stake of all time to grab the signature of Obafemi Akinwunmi Martins.

In what becomes the clearest sign of an impending exit from Newcastle United for the former Inter Milan striker, The Gunners have gained permission to hold official talks with The Weapon of Mass Destruction, over possibilities of a move to The Emirates Stadium.

Martins has been told he could leave Saint James’ Park if any of his suitors match or better Newcastle’s £15 million asking price.

However, Obagol could still go for less, if he hands in a transfer request, which would trigger a £13 million release clause.

The 23-year-old star may do just that, having recently had a new £80,000-per-week deal scrapped at the last moment as the Magpies seek to trim their wage bill.
The report stated further that Newcastle could not find the money to fund Obafemi’s new deal, but he is a player a lot of clubs want.

Arsenal have long been linked with Martins, but Arsene Wenger has so far refused to budge from his £11 million evaluation of the former Internazionale star.
