Miffed by the unacceptable attitude of Aba giants, Enyimba International Football Club of Aba, which caused the delay in the programme of Grand Finale of the 2008 Coca –Cola FA Cup competition in Makurdi at the weekend, the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), slammed a N1million fine on the two time CAF Champions League champions.

Enyimba lost their second semi final to Ocean Boys of Yenagoa on penalties in Owerri the previous weekend, but arrived late in Makurdi for the third place match, which angered officials of the NFA.

The delay of the Third Place match, which should have started at 2pm, affected the Final Match, which did not start until a few minutes after 4pm which occasioned a rush of the awards presentation ceremony in order to meet up with the television time schedule.

The Organizing and Disciplinary Committee of the NFA met on Saturday night at the Haf Haven Hotel, Makurdi and immediately pronounced a N1 million fine on the offending team.
“We feel that Enyimba have done something terrible, that they have caused Nigeria football international embarrassment and this is unacceptable. A Club like Enyimba should know better.

“If there is any Club in this country with the necessary exposure and experience not to have done such a thing, it is a Enyimba”, said NFA 1st Vice Chairman, Mazi Amanze Uchegbulam, who chaired the O & D meeting.
