It would no longer be business as usual, so says the Nigerian Football League (NFL), as the board have reeled out stringent measures to enhance sanity and decorum in the Nigerian League.

This position was made known yesterday by the NFL in their third National Congress held at Chida International Hotel in Abuja.

According to Alhaji Shehu Garba Gusau, who stood in for the NFL boss, Chief Oyuki Obaseki, certain tough decisions were taken ahead of next season, in order to reposition and improve the standard of our league.

Among the decisions, which Gusau highlighted include that; henceforth, late registration of players by clubs will attract a fine of N50,000 per player; any club indicted for violence or disturbances before, during or after a match would be forced to play their matches behind closed doors or would play their home games in other venues, also behind closed doors; and any club, which deny unconditional access to TV coverage of matches would henceforth be fined N15million as against N2million.

Finally, Gusau warned strongly that all sub-standard venues, which are not TV friendly would not be approved for league matches. He emphasised that everything possible would be done to improve the standard of the league next season.
