Chief Coach of the national Olympic side, the Dream Team IV, Samson Siasia, has been given the green light to use Ambrose Efe, who was diagnosed to have a defect in his heart at the Beijing Olympics next month

The cheering news was broken to the Dream Team officials last weekend by the Korean doctors who carried out medicals on the team soon after arriving Korea for the final phase of their preparations for the Olympic Games

“Ambrose has been given a clean bill of health to play, and it is now left for the coaches to determine whether he makes the final 23 man list that would be registered for the Games,” Team Secretary, Sola Ogunowo, told Daily Sunsport on phone from Korea.

“It is good to have Ambrose back in the team after fears that his career was on the verge of hitting the rocks
“Everybody leapt for joy when the medical report of the tests conducted on Efe was announced to the team. We were so happy to have him back and we hope he overcomes the psychological trauma the earlier tests, which ruled him out gave him,” he added.

Efe was declared unfit to play at the Olympics by doctors in Nigeria after medicals were carried out on the entire team, but a second test by his club doctors in Kaduna cleared him to play, thus forcing Coach Siasia to take him along to Korea for further tests.

Siasia told reporters before the team’s departure to South Korea that he “feels for the young man, but would not do anything on sentiment as the boy’s life is more important than the gold medal we expect to win.”
