Watford FC of England star defender, Danny Shittu has assured the NFA that he would sacrifice his holiday to join the National Under-23 team for the Beijing Olympic games in August.

Sources at the Glass House secretariat of the NFA told our correspondent that the Super Eagles defender had expressed joy at the opportunity of playing at the Olympics, adding that he would take a short break after the English championship season to join the team’s camp to prepare for the games
"Shittu had scheduled to proceed on holidays after a busy seasons but for his country he said he would shorten his break. He expressed delight at being considered for the games, assuring that he would not disappoint Nigerians and coach Samson Siasia who picked him.

"The young man is such a good example of patriotic Nigerian and a true professional. He is looking forward to playing against the likes of Kaka of Brazil, Messi of Argentina, Babel and Schnida of Holland among others," our NFA source stated.

Our impeccable source also urged Nigerians clamoring for the inclusioin of Mikel Obi in the Under-23 side to forget it as it was too late since the list had been submitted to the NOC
He stated at this point one cannot remove nor add to the provisional list forwarded to the organizers of the games, declaring that Mikel’s exclusion should not be debated because he cannot be brought in at this stage

"We should be thinking of how to do well without Mikel now and not turn it to a national debate. We know Mikel is talented but we cannot sacrifice discipline for all the talents in this world" our source stated
