Deola Sagoe of Odu’a creation, an international fashion
designer showcased an array of gorgeous creations that ranged
from classy, elegant and fanciful outfits on the runway of
Lagoon Restaurant recently. Style ranged from the wearable
to the unwearable and femininity was the unifying theme throughout
a colourful parade of great looks.
There were elegant evening gowns of luscious, raffia fabrics,
as well as sassy dresses that showcased the body at its best.
The show tagged CATWALK THE WORLD: Fashion for the food according
to Sagoe was a platform
for people to relax and get the message and perform on how
to end child hunger in Africa. It was in conjunction with
the United Nations World Food Programme & Health PR, the
international Campaign Launch of the Catwalk took place.
Three super models, Oluchi Orlandi, Agbani Darego, Bisi Sowemimo
and a host of models sashayed their waist on the runway that
came in three segments. The first segment led by Oluchi who
stands at 6 feet, 3inches featured Sagoe’s design tagged
‘Victorian & Edwardian Era, the 1920’s. As
the models sashayed their tiny waists on the run way, one
could see the real creativity of the House of Deola Sagoe
from the cuts to the finishing edges in various outfits.
The second leg was African Fusion while the last batch was
mixed up. Every attire, accessories and foot-wear, all were
Deola Sagoe’s creations.
They were refreshing, fun-casual ensembles that epitomised
the night. Short scottish, box-cut, ruffled tutu skirts with
hugging tops reigned freely . Others were form-fitting racy
outfits, midriff tops, over dropped-waist skirts and ball
flirty outfits.
Sagoe, the mother of three also delivered sass and class in
tangerine capri pants piped in black print of Raffia fabric.
Ensembles of beige knit tops worn over cocoa-hued multi layered
sheer fluted skirt was seen on the run-way.
Colours ranged from earth tones of brown and green, catchy
yellow, beige to sweet pink, vibrant blue, gold and black
combination and of course white.
The shoes were equally in the same class of the wearable to
the unwearable. They include, pumps, thigh high boots, go-go
boots, silhouette and straps, all came alive.
