Many people have been victims of refurbished phones when they unknowingly purchase them, owing to its cheapness.
Now phone buyer can get to identify new phones, especially for Nokia and Samsung. Press *#0000# then send. The result would be on the screen.

For other phones, apart from Nokia and Samsung, punch *#06# and the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) will show. This serial number usually start with ‘35’ and it must be the exact number of the one written on the phone pack.

At other times, a skeptical Nokia buyer may want to know the expiry date of such a phone as well as if it had been repaired before.

This can be done, if *#92702689# is punched in the phone. The whole date would come up on the screen. Usually, it is advisable to purchase phones manufactured not quite long to the current year and not the one manufactured four or five years earlier.
