Premier internet service provider, Linkserve, global software giant, Microsoft and broadband solutions specialist, Hirest, are on the impressive lists of companies set to storm this year’s edition of the prestigious Titans of Technology.

Don Pedro Aganbi, Managing Consultant, Technology Africa, organisers of the popular event, said that the 2008 edition would boost the appreciation and adoption of new technologies in the country.

According to him, ‘the Titans of Tech 2008, scheduled for April 3 and 4 at the Muson Centre in Lagos, with the theme: “Emerging Technologies, Emerging Markets”, would feature a conference, an exhibition as well as an award and gala night to recognize the Titans of Tech.”

He stated that the Titans of Tech expo will provide a platform for leading technology firms, vendors and service providers to showcase the latest technological innovations in products development. Exhibitors are drawn from all sectors of the nation’s economy.

He noted that more than 30 companies have indicated interest to be a part of the exhibition, adding, however, that there may be space constraint at the exhibition ground.
The managing consultant stated that many of the companies that indicated interest say the expo was timely as it provides a veritable platform to showcase new technologies to the oil and gas, power, insurance and other sectors to better run their operations.

Aganbi revealed that companies that have registered for the April gathering include the foremost training institution, NIIT, leading telecommunications services solutions provider, Bells and Bells, principal solutions providers for the nation’s capital market, Programos Software.

Others are indigenous IT training firm, HiiT; top security and microfinance applications solutions developers, Perfect Touch Consulting; global document management company, Xerox and Datapeg. Teledom, total ICT solutions provider, Weco Systems, Wadof software, SystemSpecs, developers of the popular human manager, and PPC, leading systems integration company are also on the bill.
Leading the pack from the banking sector is Fidelity Bank, with others indicating strong interest to participate in the expo.

Datapeg, he revealed, has concluded plans to launch its new product at the event with several others
Aganbi said that the design, development and deployment of new technologies around the globe, and much more specifically in the emerging markets, such as Nigeria, could only serve to increase the influence of ICTs in the society.

He disclosed that a two-day lecture is also part of the programme, with the second day dedicated to the Women in ICT forum, a lecture-cum-workshop that seeks to promote gender equity in the design, development, implementation, and use of information and communication technologies in the country.
He noted that the forum was organized in recognition of the fact that without progress towards the empowerment of women, any attempt to raise the quality of lives of people in developing countries would be incomplete.

Aganbi said that ICTs are for everyone and women have to be an equal beneficiary to the advantages offered by the technology, and the products and processes, which emerge from their use.
The Titans of Tech 2008 is expected to be the most impressive gathering of IT professionals in the course of the year.
