Models from House of Jola are already painting the city of
South Africa red. The models that left the country almost
three weeks ago are already making waves on radio and TV stations
across South Africa.
Bunmi Ademokoya, a law undergraduate from Obafemi Awolowo
University who was crowned the best model of the world in
faraway China last December, is on the list. The charming
lady and her team stormed the Fashion Week debut to view winter
collections in Sanlem SA.
The event, which took place on Friday 14th March at Museum
Africa, Johannesburg, was a huge success as Bunmi and other
models from House of Jola stood out gracefully. They stole
the show and they were admired by designers and modeling agencies
that came to grace the event from all over the world.
After a week of serious screening, with over 20 white, blacks
and Asian models anxious for a chance at the SA Fashion Week,
these Nigerian models soared high at the casting for the show,
which held at Design District, Rosebank.
The models, accompanied by Joan Okorodudu, project initiator
of Next Nigeria's Super Model and owner House of Jola Models,
have been working frantically, in terms of perfecting their
skills.
Bunmi, who was featured in seven shows in the fashion week,
also opened the show for one of the designers; Ramatla Lebo.
She strutted the runway in designs of Artistic Soul and Imgrad
Mkhabela, and four other designers.
Other models on the runway at the Sanlem SA fashion week include
Eunice Eyo; winner of Next Nigeria's Super Model 2007, Isy
Atagamen, Esse Omene and Omashola Oburoh, the only male model
in the group.
At the event, over 30 participating South African designers
displayed exotic and scintillating attires for the opening
of the show. Collections of some of the country’s most
creative designers include Miss Scarlet, Zealous, Guillotine,
Superella, Ramatla, and Mkhabel Artistic Soul, amongst others.
With its mixture of African and Western heritage, the SA fashion
week has been tagged the perfect venue to show off the talents
and versatility of young South African designers.
