Amid pomp and ceremony, Satzenbrau, a premium Pilsner lager beer, made history in Nigeria by delivering what has been described as the country’s biggest launch event.

In over 16 cities across the country, including Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Jos, Enugu, Ibadan, Benin, Warri and Asaba and with at least 10,000 in attendance, Guinness Nigeria Plc simultaneously unveiled the first Pilsner lager beer
Managing Director of the company, Mr Keith Taylor, told an enthusiastic audience at the Lagos event that the new proposition is an experience beyond words.

The new Satzenbrau, he said, is a unique product packaged in a new bottle, a new label and brewed with cutting edge technology from the finest natural ingredients.
By bringing Satzenbrau to the Nigerian market, Taylor said Guinness is providing the country an opportunity to enjoy a top quality product that has been very successful around the world.
He said Satzenbrau brings to the marketplace the Pilsner lager tradition, a heritage that has redefined the taste of better, clean, crisp and refreshing beer.

Pilsner beer can be traced back to the ancient city of Plzen situated in the German-speaking province of Bohemian kingdom now the Czech Republic. The birth of Pilsner beer was as a result of a call for a better quality and premium beer. There was a revolution against the beers at the time, consumers at that time complained about the state of beers then which were top-fermented, cloudy and unpleasant.
The citizens, brewers and maltsters of Plzen formed a brewer's guild called the People's Brewery of Pilsen, and after years of hard work, research.

In appearance, the new brand has an attractive rich burnished gold colour with a clear brilliant appearance and a dense long-lasting, foamy white head. Furthermore, the flavor, is soft and rounded bitterness, prominent but never harsh with a pleasant aftertaste.

According to some individuals who were at the event and those who have tasted the new lager, the strength of the Satzenbrau lies in the fact that it does not come with hangover. Equally too, the packaging, which is stylish and very creative, is a new addition and innovation to beer branding, which many say, will be difficult to replicate.
