The chambers of the judge, who nullified the impeachment of the former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Rasidi Ladoja, has been burgled by unknown persons.

Justice M.O Bolaji-Yusuf’s chambers was said to have been burgled on Sunday night and her laptop computer, some vital files, were carted away by the burglars. Yusuf, who delivered the January 12 ruling that nullified the impeachment of Ladoja later handed off the case on January 31 in controversial circumstance.

She was said to have worked with the laptop computer till 8p.m on Sunday but came to the chambers on Monday morning to realise that it had been stolen. Daily Sun learnt that two judicial staff and a night-guard were arrested and interrogated by police personnel from Oluyole Divisional Police headquarters but were later released.
When Daily Sun visited the Oyo State High Court, Ring Road area, where the incident occurred, Tuesday, none of the senior judicial officers of the court agreed to talk on the matter. Efforts to get the Chief Registrar, Mrs O.A. Aiki, to comment yielded no result as she was said to be outside the court premises.

But a senior court official, who would not want his name in print described the incident as unfortunate.
"We know everything but we cannot talk. I cannot say it (the incident) is not true or it is true. But it is a pity that we are in a country where the security itself is not secure. It is very unfortunate," the source stated.

When contacted on phone the state acting Chief Judge, Honourable Justice Afolabi Adeniran confirmed the incident saying the matter had been reported to the police.
“The police have started investigating the incident. They (burglars) came through the toilet window. The police are looking into it. So, let us wait for the outcome of police investigations", the acting CJ said.
Adeniran debunked insinuation that the incident was as a result of security lapse at the court premises. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Jonathan Johnson, also confirmed the development but said his men were already closing in on those behind it.

According to him, those earlier arrested were released after they had made necessary statements. He said that his men have also met with Justice Yusuf and interrogated her.
"She has given us useful information, which we are now working on. The burglars made a constructive break in. Nothing was damaged as they gave the impression that they entered through the two louvres glasses they removed on the window. But we are looking inward," Johnson said.
