Detectives investigating the bank robbery at Canaanland,
which claimed the lives of two policemen have cornered some
of the suspects, who were identified as sons of big shots
attending the Covenant University.
Reports say six suspects including two students of the exclusive
institution were arrested in Lagos and Ogun states by policemen
from the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS), Adeniji
Adele.
The Commissioner of Police in charge of FSARS, Mr. Kefas Gazama
confirmed the arrests. He said the suspects in their net would
lead the police to other members of the gang.
The police, however, refused to release names of the suspects,
who they described as sons of influential figures in the society,
fearing that their investigation could be jeopardized.
Daily Sun gathered that the police recovered
AK 47 rifles from the students when they stormed their hideout.
According to the reports, the police have spread their dragnet
to catch four other suspects including a woman, who took part
in the robbery.
Several millions of naira were said to have been carted away
by the bandits, who raided four banks at Canaanland.
