Robbers raid bank in Ondo,
kill cop

A fifteen-man strong daredevil armed robbers on Tuesday raided
a commercial bank in Akungba Akoko area of Ondo State, the
second in less than two months, killed a policeman and shot
a bank officer.
The robbers, it was gathered, had trailed a bullion van to
the bank with two vehicles that morning where the bandits
carried out their operations .
It would be recalled that the armed robbers carted away millions
of naira in the last robbery operations at the same branch
of the bank.
Investigation revealed that the attack may have been instigated
by the late arrival of the bullion van which they had trailed
down to the bank.
It was revealed that when the security agents attached to
the bullion van discovered that two strange cars were trailing
them, told the driver not to go to the bank directly.
The driver, it was gathered outsmarted the robbers and headed
to undisclosed destination
When the robbers arrived at the bank and discovered that the
bullion van was not in the bank premises, they got annoyed
and began to shoot indiscriminately, a development which made
people to run for safety, while shops were hurriedly shut.
The robbers were said to have ransacked the banking hall,
beat up officials of the bank and shot one of them. They also
vandalized the ATM machine where they made away with undisclosed
amount of money.
Police image maker, Adeniran Aremu, who confirmed the incident
said that the robbers killed a police man at Isua town at
a check point when the bandits ran into them.
