Edo PDP: Faction calls for
reconciliation
…Oshiomhole blows hot

The Governor Oserheimen Osunbor- led faction of the Edo State
chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that
it is disposed to reconciliation with the Chief Tony Anenih-
led faction provided that they are sincere, saying a person
who wants reconciliation does not give conditions.
At a meeting of the loyalists of the governor on Saturday,
hosted by its Edo North Senatorial Chairman, Dr. Deacon Domingo
Obende in Igarra, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the state,
in a 10 point communique on the lingering crisis, it also
affirmed the leadership role of the governor in the party.
This is even as the Action Congress (AC) governorship candidate,
Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has restated his resolve to jail
all those who loot Edo State treasury once he takes over government
in the state.
He also warned commercial banks in the state who are lending
out money to note that his administration was not prepared
to pay back loans taken as that was not the mandate of the
people to him.
He stated this at the reception of some former Peoples Democratic
Party members who joined the Action Congress (AC) at the party’s
state secretariat in the Edo State capital.
“We have no business putting people who stole N100 in
the prisons. We know that Prof. Osunbor and his people are
stealing billions of naira. So, I want to repeat that we will
jail them if they are found to have looted the treasury of
the state.
“Some people are saying that we should not be saying
what we are going to do once we take over government. And
I said, the day we cannot say what we believe in, it is that
day we should go back to the village.
“I also warn the banks, the man claimed he has borrowed
only N5 billion, which is what he admits. We know that he
has borrowed over N10 billion. We are asking, what did he
do with the N5 billion at a time they even have excess crude
oil money?
“We are told that they are tarring roads. All the roads
put together, how many kilometres do they translate to? What
is the cost of tarring a kilometer of road?
“Those banks, which are now lending money, let them
be careful. We are not coming to settle bank loans. That is
not the mandate of the Edo people. If he said he borrowed
N5 billion, he should quickly pay back.”
It would be recalled that the Anenih- led faction had last
week issued some conditions for reconciliation rising from
the conduct of the factional congresses last year.
But according to Sadoh, when a person is maintaining one position,
it means the person does not require reconciliation. “So
it would still be required of the patient one to keep on tolerating
here and there. Until they are able to start a magic because
a person who has been giving threat that until this and that
is done, there would be no reconciliation, does that person
need reconciliation? Is that natural?” he asked.
For Domingo, there is no sincerity of purpose in what they
are saying because, when people are aggrieved, it is only
necessary that they come together before a committee or constituted
authority to state their cases, these people will look at
it and come out with a way to solve the problem. But giving
conditions even before discussions presupposes that they do
not have the genuineness in heart to reconcile. That is our
stand.
