Wema Bank is safe and has not derailed from the vision of
its founding fathers, the acting Group Managing Director of
the bank, Mr. Johnson Aboh, told Osun State Governor, Prince
Olagunsoye Oyinlola yesterday.
Aboh, who led other management staff of the bank on a courtesy
call on Governor Oyinlola at the Government House, Osogbo,
said the bank remained stable and strong contrary to the negative
press it got lately.
According to him, Wema Bank had continued to meet its obligation
to its customers and would not betray the confidence the owners
reposed in it.
He commended the governor for the support he has been giving
the bank just as he disclosed that workers of the bank were
poised to take it to enviable heights.
The acting GMD of the bank expressed its readiness to partner
with Osun State government in the execution of its projects
and programmes.
In his response, Governor Oyinlola commended the new GMD for
his efforts at making the bank stronger since he assumed duties.
His words: “WEMA Bank is our people heritage and we
will continue to do everything to sustain it. When we came
into power in 2003, the bank was comatose and we thank God
for making the bank stand solid. This legacy must not be destroyed.”
The governor also extended further hand of support to the
bank asking the management to let the owners know on time
whatever assistance they need to sustain the legacy.
