Three female drug traffickers have been caught by operatives
of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the
Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja for concealing
3.550 kilogrammes of cocaine in both their private parts and
brassiere on their way to Amsterdam.
One of them, Ugochi Akhigbe Linda, ingested 62 wraps of cocaine
and inserted two wraps in her private parts weighing 1.050
kilogrammes.
The single mother who works in Valencia, Spain, was caught
on May 1, 2008 during screening of passengers on KLM flight
to Amsterdam. Also caught on same flight is Okpalaoka Amelia
Ijeoma, a business woman based in Lagos. She had in her possession
a total of 108 wraps of cocaine, weighing 1.450 kilogrammes
that she packed on her body, including her brassiere. The
mother of two was detected by a female officer that conducted
a body frisk on her during screening.
The third suspect, Omoruyi Jessica, ingested 69 wraps and
inserted 1 wrap in her private parts weighing 1.050 kilogrammes.
Jessica was arrested on May 5, 2008 on her way to Barcelona,
Spain where she works as a cleaner. The NDLEA Commander at
the Airport, Alhaji Hamza Umar, described the use of private
parts to conceal drugs as obscene.
According to Hamza, “we are prepared to detect any mode
of concealment, but the use of private part by women to conceal
drugs is obscene.”
The agency said, the cases are under investigation while the
suspects will be charged to court as soon as findings are
completed.
